Cooling, crunchy & crispy

When summer comes, then it’s easy to spot blue items everywhere. Blankets with blue dots, blue shirts, or a vase with white and blue stripes. Even blue drinks!

I wonder why. Who decided summer had to be connected to blue? I can only give one answer: because it is the colour that gives people a feeling of freshness. Cooling, purifying, like the water that washes off the sweat and dirt and makes the body clean.

I asked myself, could I create an artwork that contains such elements of comfort, for people like me and my husband who are trying to survive 35 degree summer weather without air conditioning in the house?

I want to look at a painting that immediately makes me feel like I’m cooling off! Crunchy like a cucumber and crispy like freshly laundered clothes.

Something a bit old, but the ideas are still new
