you always have more than one choice

This idea has already been sitting in my head for a year, ever since we moved to the US.

I was so surprised going shopping here for the first time, how much variety there is to choose from. I’m not used to seeing more than three types of bacon on offer, but here you have so many options: thick cut, thin cut, smoked with maple wood, or hardwood, or pecan wood, or hickory wood, and also different types of meat. Apart from pork, of course, you have turkey, and even beef! Too much choice…

It seems Americans love to have options, because the bacon section in the supermarket is just the tip of the iceberg. Don’t get me started on the variety of hot dogs, burger meats, low fat milk, no fat milk, half and half, or vegetarian milk (?) like almond milk, coconut milk…

Living in America can be a little overwhelming, life is already challenging enough, but when you stop by the supermarket on the way home from work and then have to stand in front of such a big selection having to make a choice. The right choice for your taste, your health or your wallet?

So many options, and I think I would prefer it if things were simpler. Does that make me a spoiled child who is complaining about too much candy…?
