The first borrel

The Eindhoven calendar project continues with the month of March!

March is the month of early spring. After a long and grey winter, people in the Netherlands love to take advantage of every opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and a little warmth. In normal times, that means you meet with a bunch of people after work for a “borrel” – drinks and bar snacks. And of course the most famous Dutch bar snack are “Bitterballen”, a thick meat sauce that’s rolled into a ball and then deep-fried.

I chose a blue background because the early spring is still quite cold, and the beautiful orange of the bitterballen warms your heart. (They will also burn your tongue if you’re not careful.)
