Let's talk about love

This painting is about the most simple thing: love. Gay love, straight love, I don’t think there is much difference. I wanted to capture intimacy, two men having a moment together.

I chose the colours, blue and green, very consciously. When you put them together, they form a balanced combination, not too feminine and not too masculine. They go well together. I think gay love should be blue and green!

You might wonder about the title, Salang. It means “love” in Korean, and maybe, possibly, likely I have been watching way too many Korean love dramas on TV and listened to too much Korean pop music lately. I mean, probably. Certainly. Did you notice the hairstyle of the two men? Very Korean, isn’t it?

But the word also sounds good, right? Salang – it has a melody and rhythm to it.

Also, there don’t seem to be any gay Korean love dramas on TV. Fixed it for you!
