Jacaranda tree - wake up with purple

3 Jul 2018 | Works

Always remember to fall asleep with a dream, and wake up with purple.

This painting was inspired by my surroundings in San Diego. In this very moment in June and July, the whole city is covered with this kind of purple romance. I noticed a while ago when I was doing my regular morning run, and time after time I can see some purple flowers blooming along the entire street. It's even better is when wind is blowing a bit strongly, then I can run under the purple flower rain! I really love this feeling, even though purple is not my favorite color at all. Every time I ran past some jacaranda trees in the early morning, I just could not help myself, I had to pause to admire them. They make the sky purple, and the ground is flooded by a purple flower ocean. In this painting, I wanted to create a purple tree blooming in the dark, playing with a different kind of color combination with purple and black. It turns out the result seems very amazing. Usually purple and black is a typical evil color combination, but not including this one!
