Happy Moo Year

18 Jan 2021 | Works

Welcome to the year of the cow.

Chinese New Year is approaching, and 2021 is the year of the cow (or the ox).

I was inspired by a Chinese poem for New Year’s, which says:

牛耕芳草地,鵲報吉祥年
The cow is plowing the fragrant grass
The magpie sings for a perfect year

I hope that when you see this painting, you feel blessed and you have a good year 2021.

Also, as I was painting this, my friend Adelaide was going through a very emotional time. For more than two years, she was following the life of a cow called Romie, who was slaughtered last November. This painting is also inspired by Romie. (For more on the project, check Adelaide’s website.)

BEHIND THE SCENES...

THIS IS WHAT THIS PAINTING COULD LOOK LIKE ON YOUR WALL

Something a bit old, but the ideas are still new
